Stanford is one of the nation's leading centers for care of people with epilepsy, encompassing basic science research on mechanisms of epilepsy and also clinical care of people with seizure disorders. The Center follows about 2000 adult patients with seizures, about 1000 pediatric epilepsy patients, and performs consultations on many more. Each year, we admit about 300 adults and children patients with seizure disorders to the hospital for treatment and diagnostic care. We perform surgery on approximately 30 patients per year in order to treat their epilepsy.
